Clifton Shipwreck Images

On Saturday 12 May 2012 at around 5:15am an ex Japanese now Chinese owned fishing trawler on its way to Cape Town Harbour with 29 crew members on board and a dog, found itself in the Surf of Clifton 2nd Beach 100m from the rocks.

Attempts to tow the boat back to sea have been thwarted due to the low tide, the fact that the trawler does not have a dedicated tug connection and that the back of the boat is furthest from the beach – thereby not allowing the tug to connect to the anchor line at the front.
